Where can I find more hair?
I love hair. I just can't get enough of the stuff. I love to play with it. I love to eat it. I love to pull it out. I especially love to eat it, right after I play with it for a second and pull it out. Arm hair, head hair, dog hair, clumps of hair I find on the ground; I'm not picky; I love it all. No one seems to understand my fascination with the stringy stuff. In fact everyone gets down right mean when I find it. If I try to eat it, they yank it out of my mouth. If I play with it, they take it away. If I pull it out fresh from the source, they yell and wail. It's a constant battle, but you'll be happy to know that usually I am victorious.

Seven down .... many, many more to go.
My first molar is starting to break through. Boy, does it hurt! Mommy says I've been a little cranky the past couple of days, but I think I've been a trooper. I mean, I've got this sharp pointy thing pushing its way through my gums, I've at least earned the right to holler every now and then. This tooth will be in soon enough, but it's only my seventh one. I have a feeling I've got a lot more hollering in store for the future.

Santa, Dancing and Standing
I've been so busy! Santa came and brought lots of presents for me. It may be my first Christmas, but I knew just what to do. When they finally let me loose, I made a beeline to all the pretty paper. It took me awhile, but I finally did figure out there was stuff inside. Really, really good stuff; toys for bath time, books, a bicycle seat and helmet, music, my first ride on toy, blocks, cars that zoom across the kitchen floor and so much more! It was a lot for a little guy like myself to take in.
Yesterday, to celebrate Christmas, I decided to give dancing a try for the first time. One of my new toys plays a jazzy tune and whenever it would play, I'd lift my feet and wiggle my body. Maybe it wasn't dancing in the traditional sense; but it was the best I could at my age.
I must be on a roll, because today I did something else for the first time, I stood up all on my own! I was dumped into my crib against my will this afternoon. Mommy calls it nap time, but all I know is that I was trapped. I screamed and yelled to be rescued, but no one came to help. I decided to try and make an escape on my own; so I used the crib to pull myself up into a standing position. Of course from there, I couldn't get out and I couldn't sit back down so I just cried and cried some more until Mommy came in to check on me. She was so surprised! She shouted out with Grammom to come and see, and even jumped up and down. It was all fun and exciting, until Mommy had the nerve to lay me back down and leave the room.

I like to smile. Smiling's my favorite
The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is dressing in my Santa gear! Today, I slipped into my baby Santa suit and headed out on the town for lunch and a little last minute shopping. Everywhere I went, people smiled, oohed and aahed, and exclaimed "what a gorgeous little santa!" My Mommy isn't such a fan of people, but I sure love all of the attention!

Santa Clause is coming to town.
I met the big man today; on the street in front of our driveway. I wasn't scared, just curious. Mostly I just stared because something wasn't right. Maybe it was his beard. It was gray, not white like Mommy said it would be. Otherwise, he was okay. What really impressed me were his wheels. He sat on a big red truck that made a wailing noise. It was so loud and so close. I was mesmerized. Before he left, he gave me candy canes. I really wanted to get my hands on them. I didn't know what they were. I still don't. Mommy wouldn't let me get close enough to look. Foiled again! She never lets me have any fun.

Six sure ways to make me happy.
1. I LOVE to eat, but yuck, keep that washcloth away from me. I hate to clean up afterward. If I can survive, the next step is my favorite. My water cup! When I see it, I grin and get excited, clenching my muscles and shaking my hands.
2. Walks in the yard with my Pop Pop. We see all sorts of things like turkeys, garbage trucks, birds, flowers and for the first time today, we saw a turtle!
3. Hide & Seek with my Mommy. She hides and peeks out at me. That always makes me giggle. When I get bigger I'll do the hiding too, but for now, I have fun seeking.
4. I like to laugh when my Grammom searches for my belly button. It tickles so much!
5. Splish Splash, its bath time. The sight of the water is enough to make me beam.
6. My bottle. I always smile for my bottle. I said I like my food, didn't I?

I just wanted a closer look
I'm fast, but Mommy is faster. Every time I try to explore a new room, she beats me there and shuts the door. If I see something on the floor, she picks it up and puts it out of reach. What fun is being mobile if I can't get into anything? The one time I did get there first, it was a disaster. I saw something big, shiny and blue across the kitchen and made a mad dash for it. Before Mommy could get there, I reached up to the shelf and pulled it down with a loud crash. The sound made me cry and the shiny blue thing was all around me in tiny jagged pieces. My Mommy rescued me right away, cleaned the glass off and calmed me down. It didn't take long, I was more scared then anything. I didn't hurt myself at all. I guess next time I better be more careful when I'm off exploring.

And I'm off ...
Hip Hip Hooray! I can crawl! I can really crawl! It took me a couple of days to get the hang of it, but there is no stopping me now. This morning I was crawling and falling across the entire room to my Pop Pop in hopes that he would pick me up. It worked! He was so impressed with my new trick; I got exactly what I wanted. I practiced all day. Now I'm crawling more and falling less. I'm off to bed. I need my rest. I've got lots more crawling to do tomorrow!

Pucker up and brace yourself
Lately, I've been giving my Mommy lots and lots of kisses. Its only fair, she has given me lots of kisses since as far back as I can remember. We play a game where Mommy says "kisses for Spencer" and gives me kisses. Then she says "kisses for Mommy?" and I open my mouth really wide and plant a big wet one on her cheek. Once in awhile, I've been known to chomp down before I pull away. I don't mean to, but the temptation is just too much for me. I really like to bite. If I can sneak one in during a kiss, all the better.

Sometimes, you've got to throw Mommy a bone
For weeks, all I've been hearing is "crawl, Spencer, crawl". Is that all these people care about? I thought they would have figured out that I don't need to crawl. I'm an expert roller. I can get anywhere I want to in a blink of an eye. Apparently, that's not enough, so today, to avoid further nagging, I crawled for the first time. Not far, just a few steps, enough to quiet the constant badgering.
If you'd like to check out my progress for yourself, check out the link to my crawling video.

They keep talking about a bull, but I haven't seen one yet.
I like to play peek-a-boo; pop goes the weasel makes me smile; and I'm always good for a couple of rounds of 1-2-3 Super Baby, but nothing beats my favorite game, DARTS! I like it best when I play with my Mommy, Grammy and Pop Pop. It's so much fun. Here's how we play. I go back and forth in my swing and watch as two people try to make me laugh and smile while the other one tries to make a loud noisemaker say things like "double" and "triple".
Sometimes we play a variation where I start off with a tray full of toys on my swing and one by one I drop them on the ground to see how long it takes for them to land back on my tray. I've gotten really good at this. I can let go of my monkey a second after Grammy or Pop Pop picks him up for me. Then I watch my monkey fall again while waiting for another "bullseye" from the noisemaker.
When I get bored with my swing, I call out to my Mommy to let her know and she comes to get me. This is my favorite part. I always squeal with joy because I know whats coming next! I hang onto Mommy's side while she takes a little hop and throws three pointed things at the noisemaker on the wall. This never fails to make me grin and laugh. We have to wait our turn, but we do this over and over again until the noisemaker says to me "dah, dah, dah dah winner!" I love this game. I win every time.

To grandmothers house we go
What a busy day we had today. We went bye-bye's to my great grammom and pop's house where I had to watch mommy put together another one of those funny looking trees with lights on it. I tried eating the green things that were falling off, but everybody start kept putting their fingers in my mouth and pulling them out. They're no fun.
My great grammom was singing nursery rhymes to me today. It was interesting for awhile, but I got tired of being stuck on the bed while my mommy was just a couple of feet away making noises with something she called a drill. I decided to try really hard to call her to me. Usually I just chatter nonsense, but for the first time today, I was able to call her by name. I yelled "ma ma ma ma ... " until she stopped what she was doing and came to pick me up. That's a neat trick. I've got to remember how I said that so I can do it again.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . . or so they say.
My mommy said its almost time for Christmas. I'm not really sure what that means. Yesterday, she brought a tree inside the house and covered it with shiny lights and balls. I cried a little bit while she did it. Why wasn't she playing with me instead? Afterwards, mommy picked me up and showed me the lights, but I could have cared less. What good is it all if I can't get my hands on it and give it a good chew? I didn't realize until later the real trouble that tree would cause me. To make room for it, my safe play zone had to be made smaller. I'm trying to teach myself to crawl so I need all the room I can get. I'm still not sure I like this Christmas thing, but Mommy says I'll learn to love it one day soon.
